Weekly Product Hunt Trademark Risk Reports

Each week we check a sample of new Product Hunt launches for potential trademark conflicts and publish the results here.

How these reports are generated

Every week we take a sample of the most-upvoted new launches on Product Hunt and run each product name through the same NameSpyAI checks anyone gets from a search on this site. Nothing here is estimated or hand-scored — every name in the tables has a real report behind it, and you can open it.

How we decide what counts as a conflict

The risk level shown here is narrower than a full NameSpyAI report. It comes from the trademark registries only — USPTO (US) and EUIPO (EU):

  • High — a live filing conflicts with the name.
  • Medium — a partial match worth a closer look.
  • Low — no conflicting filing found.

A name can be low here and still score badly in its full report — a taken .com or unavailable handles don’t move this number. If a registry can’t be reached, the name counts as low rather than medium, so an outage can never inflate the week’s conflict rate. Every week is reviewed before it’s published.

Why validate your name before you launch

A meaningful share of the launches we check every week ship with a possible conflict already on file — usually because nobody looked. Discovering it after launch means a rebrand: new domain, new handles, new app listings, and every link you’ve earned pointing at a dead name.

NameSpyAI checks 15 platforms — trademarks, domains, app stores, social handles, npm and GitHub — in one search, in seconds. If you want to run the checks yourself first, the full validation guide walks through each one.
